Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The lock is missing but the original catches enable one door to be securely fastened, whilst the other door pushes shut and stays closed. There have been a few historic repairs carried out over the years, mainly to the bottom cornice, please refer to the photographs for details. The general condition can be described as 'shabby chic'. The decoration is well done and in good condition and the colours have a lovely warm glow. This is a very charming antique chinoiserie and its appealing country house condition combine to make this a brilliant decorative piece to add style to any interior.
