Oliver Sargent Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The rim and base are fitted with heavy Ormolu mounts. The front panel decorated with a 18th century Japanese favourite design of two chicken in a landscape, the other panel of a floral landscape, further embellished with panels of chrysanthemum heads and Ho Ho birds. All highlighted with gilt swags against a underglaze blue back ground and black outlined boarders to the main panels. Some flaking to the black enamel which is common on 18th century Japanese wares.
