Rare Massive Scottish Wemyss Roseberry Vase. C. 1895

1900 - 1920
Description

VERY RARE early Scottish Wemyss ware Roseberry vase of huge proportions. This very early piece of Scottish Wemyss ware is decorated in Blue Tits among rambling roses with a balustrade beneath.

Lord Roseberry, after whom this shape was named after was British Prime Minister between 1894 / 5 and was a Liberal. His estate was on the other side of the Forth from the Fife pottery Kirkcaldy.

The piece is not marked but this is not unusual for the earliest and thus rarest pieces of Wemyss. There are a couple of very minor hairline cracks near the top but otherwise this is in very good condition.

In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
