Unusual Pair of Japanese Mixed Metal Vases by Nogawa

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this high quality pair of Japanese mixed metal onlaid vases by the Nogawa company of Kyoto , the unusual heavy gauge tapered vases stand on splayed bracket feet, the four sides decorated in onlaid mixed metal work using a combination of alloys including Gold , Silver , Shakudo and Shibuichi on a caramel bronze base , one pair of scenes depicts silver and shibuichi cranes in a tranquil setting , another pair depict the silver moon behind the clouds above flora and an onlaid Bat ,the remaining four sides individually decorated with flora , waterside settings , butterflies and a hornet , the vases are heavy quality with super onlaid detailing throughout , stamped to the underside with the Nogawa seal.

The condition is lovely and original.
