Good Pair of Japanese Ivory Vases Meiji Period

1900 - 1920
Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality pair of Japanese ivory vases , the vases have been carved in fine detailed deep relief throughout , they depict scenes of scholars and artisans going about their business in various landscape and village settings , the handles are formed as kylin or mythical beasts, the feet are most unusual being made to depict grotesque noh mask characters !!

The condition, colour and quality are excellent , i detect one tiny slither chip to a top rim mentioned only for accuracy but barely visible , a really great pair of higher quality ivory vases for your collection.
