Good Quality Pair of Japanese Mixed Metal Damascened Vases

19th century
Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this fine and heavy quality pair of Japanese onlaid mixed metal vase , the bulbous main bodies of these vases are profusely decorated with birds and butterflies amidst exotic flora , the neck is finely decorated in a gold damascened design similar to the Komai style of work much replicated by other artists of note including Inoue, sitting between the damascened work are further decorated panels depicting mount Fuji in the moonlight and other traditional scenes , the decoration onlaid and inlaid with the use of gold, silver , shibuichi and other mixed alloys , a great pair of vases for your collection both signed by Kumagaya to the underside .

The condition is lovely and original with a well handled mellow bronze patiantion , one vase has a small minor bruise to the side as shown in last pic .

Weight is a hefty 880 gms
