Description

As part of our oriental collectrion we are delighted to offer this simply wonderful quality Japanese onlid mixed metal vase by the renowned artist "Inoue"the bronze body of the vase is decorated with a coiled three clawed dragon to the front elevation and a ho-ho bird to the reverse the sides with entwined with floral decoration between the two subjects , this work is carried out in both onlaid and incised techniques using a mixture of gold , silver, shibuichi and shakudo alloys , the foot rim is heavily onlaid with gold above which sits a geometric damascened border, the top shoulder of the vase has a silver and gold band of trailing flora beneath an exquisite band of intricate damascened komai style work , the neck of the vase is further decorated with gold damascened work below a greek key decorated top rim, an absolute delight with a weight that defies its size .

The vase is signed to the underside by Inoue .

The condition is lovely throughout with just a minor flatened bruise to the gold bottom rim .
