Description

This is a beautiful Japanese earthenware vase dating from the Meiji period, 1868 - 1912. The vase is beautifully decorated with sparrows amongst blossoms, and hand-gilded with floral motifs. The neck and lid are gilded with Greek key motifs and the vase is signed with a six character mark. There is some rubbing to the finial of the lid as you would expect. There is a very minor crack to the side of the vase, see photo 5, but it is a substantial and impressive piece nevertheless.

The vase measures 42cm high and 26cm in diameter.
