This is a good quality antique George III Welsh housekeeper’s hanging cupboard, circa 1780.
The cupboard doors feature a working lock and a key with two small brass knobs and brass escutcheons. Inside, there is a bank of wooden hooks around the perimeter of the internal cupboard to hang jackets from. As this cupboard has a narrow depth (50.5cm or 19?”) it is ideal for a narrow hallway for storing jackets, umbrellas, hats and shoes. Below the cupboard doors is a bank of three sham drawers. Further below, are two large oak-lined and hand dovetailed working drawers. The sides of the cupboard also boast lovely oak fielded panel sides with peg a construction. The cupboard stands on its original styles. The cupboard dismantles into two sections for easy transportation.

As this item boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.
The cupboard has good proportions which makes it a sought after size; it was designed to fit into narrow rooms such as hallways. The cupboard dismantles into two sections for easy transport and access into the house.
