Ando Jubei Silver Cloisonne Vase in Silk Lined Tomobako

1900 - 1920
Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this quite superb Japanese Silver mounted cloisonne vase by the renowned Ando Jubei factory of Tokyo and Nagoya , this fine vase is finished in a red ginbari ground enamel silver mounted top and bottom and hallmarked to the rim , the vase is further decorated to three sides using silver wire to form a charming picture of birds flying amongst trailing wisteria, the wisteria pattern is further followed through beneath the ginbari enamel ground , a magical piece of Meiji period cloisonne complete with its original hardwood stand and silk lined tomobako (box).

The condition of cloisonne is critical ,we can only describe this as immaculate throughout thanks in part to being stored in its box for many years .
