Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
It has a moulded cornice above a deep beautifully figured mahogany frieze and canted corners. The central cupboard door has a key with working lock, a moulded edge and striking mahogany cross banding. The interior has three shaped shelves in a very early paint finish. This wonderful antique cupboard still owns its original back boards and has aged to a delightful rich warm medium shade of oak with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
