Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1890s.
It has a rectangular moulded top above three beautifully figured cupboard doors all with moulded edges, turned handles and keys with working locks. The door fronts are also delightfully decorated with inlaid banding and when opened reveal an interior containing eight adjustable shelves. This antique press stands on a moulded plinth with the original oak back boards, yet another sign of its quality. It is a rich medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
