Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
It has a moulded cornice above a central door with moulded edges and a raised fielded panel which displays beautiful cross banding in mahogany and unusual intricate inlaid banding. The centre has a delightful shell inlay and the door is opened using the original decorative key, unfortunately the lock itself no longer works, but it sits within a detailed brass key escutcheon. The interior has three shelves with reeded edges and the antique cupboard sits on a moulded plinth. It is a medium oak with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
