Early Georgian Antique Oak Estate Cupboard

This is a beautifully made, early Georgian antique oak cupboard that dates from 1730.

Inside holds a secret not evident from the outside.

Behind the top two doors which have shaped panels and are hung with the original, Parliament hinges which allow the doors to fold all the way back, flush with the sides are twelve oak drawers, all with the period brass ring handles.

Between the drawers are reeded divides.

Beneath the moulded waist, the base, which stands on high bracket feet, also hides a secret, the top drawer falls down to reveal a writing bureau over three oak drawers.

All the drawer linings and back boards are hand planed oak.

A real working piece of early Georgian, English country house furniture, intended to be used on a daily basis as an office to house and sign important documents.
