Description

As part of our oriental collection we are pleased to be able to offer this superbly decorated Japanese bronze vase from the late Meiji/Taisho period, the heavy bronze vase has been fully gilt lacquered to give it a dull golden background to enable it to highlight the superb detail of the pair of carp swimming in the foreground with the addition of a silver lacquer to give the impression of rippling water , very clever indeed ,the vase is quite substantial and has a large engraved signature to the rear .

The condition is very very good with only minor wear and a few light scratches on the gilt lacquer at the rear , although lovely as a vase this would make a stunning lamp and with its screw threaded inner lip may well have formerly been used as one , a real gem !!
