Mahogany Inlaid Bow-fronted Corner Cupboard

A rare & very fine 18thc mahogany inlaid bow-fronted corner cupboard of small proportions.

This piece is of exceptional quality & patina.

The mahogany top has boxwood stringing & a boxwood inlaid shell in the top corner.

The front consists of two dummy drawers on the top frieze with a central oak lined drawer.

The central cupboard door is of extremely figured curl mahogany & has a central boxwood inlaid shell design. Each of the corners has a boxwood shell inlay.

The sides are inlaid with a boxwood design of a semi-circular pattern.

At the base are three bracket feet which are quite unusual, but helps with the stability of the piece.

The interior of the cupboard has one shelf.

This piece is similar to those found in the book by Thomas Shearer, 'The cabinet makers London book of prices & designs of cabinet work.'

He was an 18thc English furniture designer & cabinet maker, very much known for his inlays of exotic woods & delicate proportions.
