These Edwardian 15ct gold earrings display a linear drop design set with graduated seed pearls and bezel set purple amethysts. The articulated drops measure 29 mm in length including ear wires, 23 mm excluding ear wires, with an amethyst diameter of 7 mm and a weight of 2.3 g. The metal has a warm gold finish, complementing the vivid purple amethysts and the white seed pearls, with delicate millegrained settings visible on each stone. The reverse of the earrings is stamped 15ct, and the original stones are in excellent antique condition ready for wear. They suit both everyday wear and evening dress in a modern home, bringing traditional English Country House character to jewellery collections. The earrings arrive in a new presentation box.

Edwardian jewellery was produced during the reign of King Edward VII, spanning roughly from 1901 to 1910. The style is characterised by delicate, light designs, refined lace-like detail, garlands, and the frequent pairing of pearls with coloured gemstones set in yellow gold or platinum.

Craftsmen of the era frequently worked with 15ct gold, 18ct gold, and platinum. Designs regularly incorporated natural seed pearls, amethysts, diamonds, peridots, and sapphires held in precise bezel or claw settings with milgrain finishing.

Authentic pieces often feature specific period purity marks, such as the 15CT or 15 stamp, which was phased out in the UK by 1932. Look for fine milgrain decorative edging, delicate wirework, and hand-cut gemstones consistent with early 20th-century lapidary techniques.

Linear gemstone drop earrings complement contemporary formal wear, evening gowns, and bridal attire. The combination of yellow gold and deep purple amethysts pairs naturally with neutral silk fabrics, dark velvet, or tailored tailoring.

Clean gently using a dry, soft microfibre cloth without liquid chemical cleaners or ultrasonic machines, which can damage organic seed pearls. Store the earrings flat in a fabric-lined box away from direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperature changes.
