An Art Deco gold stick pin sits inside an open hinged presentation case lined in dark red velvet with an off-white silk lid interior. The item dates from around 1920 and measures 5.8 cm high, 1 cm wide, and 0.5 cm deep. The design incorporates a geometric circular head enclosing a propeller motif alongside a central seed pearl, accompanied by a lower twisted shank section. The piece is fashioned from 15ct gold and white pearl material, exhibiting gold and white tones. Marks appear on the body consisting of 5c and an 8 or a B character. This jewellery piece can serve as a decorative lapel accessory or a collector specimen within a period display cabinet.

A stick pin, also known as a cravat pin or tie pin, is a decorative fastener originally designed to secure mens cravats or ties, popularised during the 19th and early 20th centuries. During the Art Deco era of the 1920s and 1930s, these pieces incorporated clean geometric shapes, refined metalwork, and delicate gemstones or seed pearls.

Antique stick pins were typically constructed from gold, silver, or platinum, featuring twisted or smooth shanks. Decorative heads often incorporated seed pearls, diamonds, precious gemstones, or enamel work held in bezel or claw settings.

Authentic Art Deco pieces feature geometric patterns, symmetrical lines, and precise craftsmanship characteristic of the 1920s and 1930s design movement. Look for period hallmarks, makers marks, and period-appropriate gem settings, alongside original fitted presentation boxes.

A stick pin can be worn on a suit jacket lapel, fastened to a necktie, or inserted into a silk scarf for tailored elegance. It also functions as a hat ornament or coat accent on modern lapels.

Gold and seed pearl items should be wiped gently with a soft, lint-free cloth after wear, avoiding liquid cleaners or chemicals that damage natural pearls. Store the pin flat within a plush fabric-lined box to protect the shank from bending and prevent scratches.
