This Edwardian epergne centrepiece belongs to the period around 1910 and has a silver-plated finish in a bright silver colour. The English Country House style piece has a long wirework base with lily pads and flutes, a central tall trumpet vase, and seven removable flower holders with scalloped rims that slot in on scrolled branching arms. The original silver plate shows virtually no wear, and a registration number is stamped underneath the British-made object. Measuring 50.5 cm in length, 23 cm in width, and approximately 32 cm in height, the table accessory serves as a dining table centrepiece in a modern home to display fresh or dried stems.

An epergne is a decorative dining table centrepiece designed to hold flowers, fruit, or confectionery. While solid silver examples originated in the 18th century, silver-plated versions gained widespread popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries with advances in electroplating.

Edwardian epergnes were typically constructed from electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) or sterling silver. They featured drawn or cast metal branches, detachable trumpet flutes, and hand-formed scalloped or crimped rims.

Authentic pieces from around 1910 often bear maker marks or electroplate stamps such as EPNS on the base or arm sockets. They also exhibit era-specific design features like sinuous Art Nouveau curves, floral trumpet flutes, and seamless socket fittings for removable components.

In contemporary settings, an epergne serves as a focal point on a dining table, sideboard, or entrance hall table. It can be dressed with fresh floral arrangements, dried botanical stems, or displayed unadorned as a sculptural metalwork object.

Clean silver plate using a soft cloth and a non-abrasive silver polish formulated for plated metal. Avoid harsh chemicals, dip cleaners, or abrasive scrubbers that can strip the silver layer from the base metal, and ensure all parts are dried thoroughly after washing.
