Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This mid-century military table bell takes the form of a polished sterling silver sculpture standing 13.2 cm tall, topped with a detailed Black Watch soldier figurine wearing a bearskin bonnet and holding a rifle. The bell body bears engraved regimental lettering, a moulded bell base with a wide circular rim, and a smooth silver finish throughout. Garrard & Co Ltd produced the piece in London in 1954. Collectors place such pieces on an office desk or mantelpiece within a gentleman's library setting. The solid metal construction and inscribed text create a functional decorative item suitable for display in a study or boardroom.

FAQs

Regimental silver pieces are commemorative metalware objects presented to military personnel or mess halls to mark service achievements, retirements, or historical anniversaries.

These items were typically cast in solid sterling silver using lost-wax or sand-casting methods, followed by hand-chasing to detail uniform features and hand-engraving for formal inscriptions.

Authentic British sterling silver displays official hallmark stamps, including the lion passant mark, a town mark, a makers mark, and the specific date letter designated for 1954.

This piece can be placed on a dark wood executive desk, integrated into a curated bookshelf display, or positioned alongside brass accessories on a sideboard.

Silver should be dusted regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and gently polished using a specialised non-abrasive silver cloth to control oxidation while preserving engraved details.
