This Edwardian trinket box originates from the 1910 period and is hallmarked for Chester 1914. Formed from sterling silver, the piece has a polished silver colour throughout its smooth oval body, lid, and four slender cabriole feet. The flat lid displays engine-turned decoration alongside a short hallmark, complemented by moulded rim details encircling the upper and lower sections of the container. Surface wear includes a few dings and marks across the metal, accompanied by an indistinct maker's mark situated on the base next to the principal hallmark, while the interior retains its original silk lining. Weighing 84 grams, the box measures 10 cm in length, 7 cm in width, and 5 cm in height. Suited for placement on a bedside table, it provides practical storage for small keepsakes and jewellery within a traditional domestic setting.

Edwardian silver trinket boxes, produced between 1901 and the mid-1910s, typically feature refined neoclassical or plain polished forms, resting on cabriole legs and lined with velvet or silk to protect delicate jewellery.

These boxes were constructed from solid sterling silver bearing official British assay hallmarks, frequently fitted with textile or velvet interior linings and cast soldered metal legs.

Authentic Chester silver features distinct British hallmarks, including the town mark of three wheat sheaves and a sword, a lion passant standard mark, a specific date letter, and a registered makers mark stamped into the casing.

Position the silver box on a dressing table, bedside table, or bathroom vanity to store small items while providing a metallic accent alongside modern ceramics or glass.

Gently polish the silver exterior using a soft, non-abrasive silver cloth to remove natural oxidisation, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners that could damage internal textile linings.
