This George V spring opening envelope card case dates to the 1910 period and embodies a gentleman's library style. Formed from solid sterling silver with a smooth polished finish in a bright silver colour, the piece takes the shape of a slim oblong envelope with a V-shaped top section forming the hinged lid. Visible details include stamped silver hallmarks along the flap seam and a spring action mechanism designed for the lid to open upwards. The item measures 9 cm high by 6.5 cm wide. Practical for contemporary domestic settings, this silver card case functions well as a decorative desk accessory or a small container placed on an office desk to hold visiting cards or notes. The solid construction and compact proportions allow it to sit neatly among stationery or alongside other desktop items. Its envelope design and traditional hallmarking provide a classic presentation suitable for display within a study or home workspace.

A spring opening envelope card case is a compact metal pocket container, popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, crafted in the form of a postal envelope to hold visiting or business cards.

High-grade antique card cases were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, silver plate, mother-of-pearl, or tortoiseshell, constructed with internal spring mechanisms and precision hinges.

Authentic British George V silver features stamped hallmarks including the makers mark, the lion passant sterling purity mark, an assay office symbol, and a date letter from between 1910 and 1936.

An antique silver card case works effectively as a desktop accent, arranged inside a leather tray on an office desk, or styled alongside books in a display cabinet.

Wipe the exterior gently with a microfibre cloth and specialized non-abrasive silver polish, keeping liquid cleansers away from the delicate interior spring mechanism.
