These solid sterling silver sugar tongs, dating from the 1920s Art Deco period, take the form of a wishbone. The item displays a polished silver colour throughout, featuring a distinct hallmarked panel on the upper bridge, pointed tips at the ends of the two tapering arms, and clear maker marks stamped near the top. Measuring 11 cm long, the piece exhibits clean surfaces free from dents, splits, distortions or repairs. Place this functional silver tableware item on a sideboard top in a traditional dining room or living space for serving sugar cubes during afternoon tea or gatherings. The compact design allows for easy handling while adding a touch of Scottish heritage to domestic tabletops.

Wishbone-shaped tongs were primarily crafted during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as novelty tea service accessories used for serving sugar cubes or small items of food.

These items were standardly crafted from sterling silver, meeting the 925 purity requirement to ensure structural durability and a high-grade finish for dining service.

Authentic pieces feature clear British hallmarks stamped into the silver, including a makers mark, assay office emblem, silver purity mark, and a specific date letter.

They can be displayed on a sideboard alongside contemporary barware, incorporated into a formal afternoon tea setup, or presented inside a glass collectors cabinet.

Clean gently using a soft lint-free cloth and dedicated silver polish, ensuring non-abrasive treatment, and store in a dry, tarnish-resistant bag or cabinet.
