Pair of Decorative Brass Three-branch Wall Sconces, Early 20th Century, Circa 1930

1920 - 1940
Description

A decorative pair of early 20th century brass wall sconces, circa 1930, each fitted with three scrolling candle-style electric light branches.

The ornate backplates feature classical foliate decoration, incorporating scrolling acanthus leaves, floral motifs and pendant grape clusters. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Early 20th-century French style sconces feature cast brass scrollwork, acanthus leaf motifs, and symmetric branching arms designed to hold candle-effect fittings.

These lighting fixtures were cast from solid brass or bronze, featuring chased detailing and fitted with faux candle drippings or ceramic sleeves for electrical conversion.

Authentic pieces display natural surface oxidisation, seam lines or hand-finished chasing from traditional casting processes, and heavy metal construction rather than lightweight hollow modern pressings.

Mount a pair alongside a framed mirror above a fireplace mantel or place them on a dining room feature wall to add warmth, symmetry, and architectural detail to contemporary spaces.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners, preserving the original aged patina and protective lacquers on the brass surface.
