Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This Victorian ladies writing desk from 1900 combines a mahogany and satinwood construction with a warm brown finish. The upper section comprises a central stack of three drawers flanked by two cupboards, each set with an oval flame mahogany panel and contrasting satinwood crossbanding. Below the fold-out writing surface, a single long drawer displays brass circular pull handles. The support base consists of straight tapering legs joined by an X-frame stretcher with a central circular platform. Standing at 110 cm high, 76 cm wide and 43 cm deep, the piece provides a compact writing station for a bedroom, study or home office.

Designed at the turn of the twentieth century, these desks feature compact proportions tailored for personal correspondence, typically incorporating a raised superstructure with small drawers, delicate line inlay, and elegant tapered legs.

These desks were constructed using solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, frequently accented with satinwood or rosewood crossbanding, brass drop handles, and hand-fitted drawer linings.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, authentic oxidisation on brass hardware, natural timber grain variations, and original lock mechanisms beneath the writing surface or superstructure.

A compact writing desk works effectively as an occasional workspace in a bedroom, an accent table in a hallway, or a designated writing station in a living area paired with contemporary artwork.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent fading. Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to nourish the wood.
