Philip Hunt Antiques has dated this Regency Mahogany Cylinder Bookcase to the Regency era.
The beautifully figured mahogany provides a rich and inviting backdrop to the cabinet’s exquisite period detailing.

The cylinder front glides open to reveal a particularly attractive fitted interior in highly figured bird’s-eye maple, incorporating a pull-out writing slope which lifts to form a practical reading stand. This thoughtfully designed feature lends the piece an additional dimension of versatility, creating an intimate space for reading, writing or correspondence.

The upper section is fitted with a pair of handsome Gothic-glazed doors, opening to reveal adjustable shelving for the elegant display and storage of books and treasured possessions. Of particular distinction is the brass closing mould to the doors, a charming and authentic period detail characteristic of Regency cabinetmaking.

The whole is surmounted by a beautifully shaped cornice, whilst the contrasting ebonised mouldings throughout accentuate the cabinet’s architectural lines and lend depth and definition to the warm, lustrous mahogany.

A wonderfully decorative and highly functional example of Regency furniture, offering an exceptional combination of book storage, writing facilities and timeless period elegance. Equally suited to a traditional library, refined study or distinguished country house interior.
The bookcase separates into two sections for ease of transportation and installation and is presented in good condition.
