This early 19th-century Regency oak bookcase cabinet displays a warm brown timber colour with a panelled back and three open upper shelves, set beneath a shaped pediment topped with a round wooden boss. The lower section incorporates a hinged cupboard door fitted with a brass wire lattice grille over a dark fabric backing, secured by a small metal keyhole escutcheon and flanked by twist-carved columns, all raised on short turned feet. The upper shelves have reeded edges and are supported by finely turned and carved vertical columns. The entire piece stands 145 cm high, 70 cm wide and 36 cm deep. Suitable for a gentleman's library, study or living room, this cabinet provides practical open display space above and enclosed storage below for books, decorative items or periodicals. The solid wood construction and traditional design integrate easily into both period and contemporary interiors as a functional storage unit.

Popular during the Regency and early Victorian periods, these cabinets combine open upper shelving for display with a lower enclosed cupboard featuring brass wire mesh doors to protect books or valuable items while maintaining ventilation.

These pieces were constructed using solid oak and oak veneers, featuring hand-carved details such as rope-twist columns, hand-cut dovetail joints, and woven brass wire lattice grilles backed with fabric.

Look for hand-planed backboards, original brass wire mesh with rosettes, age-appropriate wear around keyholes and feet, and hand-turned column details consistent with Regency or William IV craftsmanship.

Position this piece in a home office, hallway, or living room, styling the open shelves with a mixture of leather-bound books and ceramic vessels to create a focal point that blends traditional texture with contemporary spaces.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, clean the wood regularly with a soft dry cloth, apply a beeswax polish annually, and gently dust the brass wire grille with a soft brush.
