An Edwardian sterling silver cigarette case displays detailed foliate scrollwork across its polished metallic surface alongside an engraved presentation shield cartouche and a functional push-button clasp on the right side. The front panel bears specific text dedicated to the Independent Order of Oddfellows of Stowmarket, noting an officer named P.G. Bro. W. Keeble and a marriage date of November 1910, flanked by diagonal banner ribbons marked OFFICERS and M.U.I.O.F. within a decorative dotted border frame. Measuring 8.2 cm by 7.2 cm, this gentleman's pocket accessory fits neatly upon an office desk or library table as a compact desktop container or decorative desktop display piece today.

Emerging in the nineteenth century and gaining immense popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, sterling silver cigarette cases were crafted as portable, protective containers for tobacco products, often presented as commemorative gifts for special occasions or lodge memberships.

Most high-quality cases were wrought from solid sterling silver, featuring hand-engraved scrollwork, foliate motifs, and bright-cut lettering, complete with an integrated spring hinge and push-button clasp mechanism.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces from this era display full official hallmark stamps, including the lion passant mark for silver purity, an assay office symbol, a makers mark, and a specific date letter code.

These compact decorative items make refined additions to a coffee table tray, desk setup, or display cabinet, functioning as business card holders, trinket containers, or standalone focal points on a curated shelf.

Gently clean the silver using a soft microfibre cloth and a specialised non-abrasive silver polish, taking care around fine engraving lines to preserve natural oxidisation within the recessed detail.
