Large 18th Century Silver Serving Spoon

Description

A good example of a large solid Sterling silver serving spoon. It has a simple elongated handle with an engraved eagle crest. It is excellent quality, weighing approximately 118g.

It has a full set of hallmarks with a clear lion passant and maker's mark. The town and date mark are slightly rubbed and distorted due to the narrowness of the handle so it is difficult to date precisely other than mid to late 18th Century.

It is in very good condition for its age. There are no major damages and it displays beautifully. There are some faint surface scratches and a few light marks but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.

Approximate Measurements :

Length : 11" / 28cm

Bowl : 2" / 5cm x 3 1/2" / 9cm
