Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A vesta case, or match safe, is a small portable container produced during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to hold friction matches, known as vestas, keeping them dry and preventing accidental ignition in a pocket.

They were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, nickel, brass, and gold, frequently featuring hinged spring lids, striker plates along the base or side, and suspension rings for attachment to watch chains.

Authentic period pieces feature official silver hallmarks indicating purity, maker, and location of manufacture, alongside signs of hand-finishing, functional spring-hinged mechanisms, and wear around the integrated friction striker.

These compact metal accessories are ideal for desktop styling on an office tray, arranged within glass display cloches, or integrated into framed shadow-box collections alongside vintage pocket items.

Gently wipe with a soft microfibre cloth and use a specialised silver polishing cloth for tarnish removal; avoid harsh chemical dips or abrasive pastes that could erode delicate gold details or inner spring mechanisms.
