We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Old Sheffield plate church chalices are liturgical vessels produced using a process of fusing sheets of silver to a copper core, widely manufactured in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries for ecclesiastical use.

These vessels were crafted by sandwiching a copper ingot between thin sheets of sterling silver, rolling the metal into sheets, and hand-hammering or spinning the form into shapes featuring knopped stems and stepped bases.

Authentic pieces often exhibit slight exposure of the copper core on raised areas due to historical polishing, termed bleeding, as well as turned silver wire rims and turned copper-covered base undersides.

A pair of silver chalices can be styled on a sideboard top, mantelpiece, or within a glass display cabinet alongside leather-bound books and period ceramics to add architectural structure.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and polish sparingly using non-abrasive silver cream to avoid wearing down the fused silver layer.
