A silver mounted cologne bottle is a luxury glass or crystal container designed to store fragrance, featuring decorative silver collars, stoppers, or caps. Popular during the 19th and early 20th centuries, these items served as functional display pieces for dressing tables.

These vessels are predominantly crafted from hand-cut or molded glass and lead crystal, combined with sterling silver or silver-gilt mounts. The silver components frequently showcase detailed embellishments such as engine turning or engraving.

Authentic British pieces from the George V era (19101936) bear official hallmarks on the silver collar or cap, including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter, and a makers mark. The glass components usually exhibit minor wear on the underside consistent with age.

Position the bottle on a vanity tray, bathroom counter, or bedside table to add texture and historical interest. Arranging multiple glass bottles of varying heights creates a refined decorative arrangement.

Polish the silver mounts gently using a soft cloth and specialist silver polish, taking care to keep polish off the glass. Clean the glass body using warm water and mild dish soap, ensuring the interior is fully dry before reinserting the stopper.
