Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Guilloche enamel is a decorative technique where a low-relief geometric pattern is engraved into silver or gold using a lathe, then covered with layers of translucent enamel. During the Art Deco period, this technique was widely used on dressing table accessories to create striking reflective patterns under coloured glass.

1920s vanity jars were typically constructed with heavy cut or molded lead crystal bases topped with sterling silver lids. The lids often incorporated guilloche enamelling, tortoiseshell, or engine-turned silver detailing, and were finished with gilding or hand-polished silver linings.

Authentic British silver vanity items bear official assay office hallmarks, including the makers mark, silver purity mark, town mark, and date letter. Genuine guilloche enamel exhibits precise, machine-engraved underlying metal patterns visible beneath smooth, glossy enamel without modern synthetic resin fills.

These decorative containers work well placed on a bathroom counter, bedside table, or dressing tray alongside perfume bottles and jewellery boxes. They function as storage for small items while adding colour and metallic texture to modern or traditional bedroom vignettes.

Clean the glass base with warm water and mild dish soap, avoiding immersion of the enamel lid. Wipe silver surfaces gently with a soft silver-polishing cloth, avoiding abrasive polish near the enamel edge, as chemical cleaners can damage translucent enamel coatings.
