Exceptionally Fine 19th Century Italian Micro Mosaic Brooch, C.1880

This exceptionally fine Italian micro mosaic brooch dates to circa 1880 and is a particularly charming example of the period.

The small circular brooch features eight intricately worked micro mosaic panels, arranged alternately in the form of love hearts and semi circles around a central roundel. The centre is beautifully decorated with delicate flowers and foliage, all framed by a striking turquoise border.

The micro mosaic is set within a rich gilt base metal frame, retaining its original hinged pin fastening to the reverse.

The brooch remains in very good condition, with the finely detailed mosaic work beautifully preserved.
