Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, dating from around 1830 to 1837, bridges the Regency and Victorian eras. It is characterized by robust proportions, bold classical carving, architectural cornices, and the extensive use of rich flame mahogany veneer.

High-quality 19th-century bookcases were primarily constructed from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, with secondary woods such as pine or oak used for drawer linings and back panels. Glazed doors feature individual glass panes fitted into timber astragal bars or frames.

Authentic pieces exhibit early 19th-century construction techniques, including hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass locks, hand-blown glass panes, and turnings or scroll corbels typical of the 1830s.

A substantial antique bookcase serves as a focal point in a contemporary study, living room, or dining area. It can be styled by pairing traditional literature with modern ceramics, framed artwork, and neutral interior backdrops.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood and preserve the natural patina, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct sunlight.
