A wonderful original 19th century carved and ebonised open bookcase. Being a highly desirable low size with fully adjustable shelves. Whilst unrestored all this piece needs is a gentle wax polish to bring out the beauty. Circa 1880

This nineteenth-century Victorian and Gothic open dwarf bookcase is constructed from ebonised oak and finished in ebonised black. The triple-bay layout contains six adjustable shelves behind carved upright stiles adorned with classical foliate decoration. The surface exhibits visible wear and fading across the dark timber, alongside aged patination to the mouldings and edges. Measuring 206 cm wide by 102 cm high by 30 cm deep, the low frame sits directly on the floor with a stepped base moulding and a broad overhanging top cornice. Suitable for positioning against a living room or study wall, this bookcase provides open storage for books and decorative objects in a traditional home setting. The unrestored condition retains its original character, ready for placement in an interior space once treated with a gentle wax polish.
