Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A two-part glazed bookcase is a tall timber storage unit constructed in two separate sectionsa upper cabinet with glass-paned doors and a lower cabinet sectiondesigned for easier transport and assembly.

These bookcases were primarily built using solid oak or oak veneers, joined with traditional mortise and tenon wood joinery, and fitted with hand-cut glass panes set within wooden glazing bars and brass hardware.

Look for signs of hand-planed timber on the back panels, slight irregularities or ripples in the historic glass panes, hand-dovetailed drawer or frame joints, and natural age-related wear around keyholes and door handles.

Position the bookcase against a neutral painted wall to balance the deep timber tones, and arrange books alongside ceramics or sculpted objects to prevent visual clutter within the glazed sections.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage or bleaching.
