We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Latticino, or filigree glass, is a Venetian glassmaking technique originating in the sixteenth century that incorporates embedded opaque glass threads to create swirling patterns. During the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, British silversmiths frequently imported or reproduced these patterned glass vessels, fitting them with hallmarked silver collars for spirit service.

These vessels are constructed from mouth-blown lead or soda glass incorporating coloured and opaque white glass canes. The neck collar is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked with British assay marks, and completed with a fitted glass stopper.

Authentic pieces feature official British silver hallmarks stamped onto the neck collar, indicating the silver purity, assay office, date letter, and makers mark. The glass base typically displays age-appropriate surface wear and may feature a polished pontil mark from the hand-blowing process.

Position the decanter on a timber sideboard, a polished tray, or a dedicated bar cart alongside plain crystal glassware to highlight the coloured spiral pattern. The item can be displayed individually as a decorative accent or functional bar accessory.

Wash the interior with lukewarm water and mild detergent using a soft bottle brush, avoiding extreme temperature changes that can crack glass. Clean the silver collar using a specialised silver polishing cloth, ensuring polish does not seep onto the glass surface or inside the neck.
