We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Georgian period spans the reigns of the four British monarchs named George from 1714 to 1830, characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical influences, and intricate hand-chased ornamentation.

These items were typically handcrafted from sterling silver, adhering to the 925 standard, and often utilised techniques such as repousse, chasing, casting, and gilding on the interior, known as vermeil.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which usually include a makers mark, a standard mark indicating sterling purity, a town mark, and a date letter corresponding to the assay office records.

Such pieces can be displayed prominently on a mantelpiece or sideboard as a sculptural object, contrasting the polished metal finish with modern minimalist surroundings or integrating it into a curated tablescape.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently using specialised, non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to preserve the patina, and stored in a low-humidity environment away from direct sunlight.
