Carnelian agate vases are decorative vessels carved from semi-precious chalcedony quartz during the Qing dynasty, featuring organic or floral motifs sculpted into the natural, translucent stone.

Lapidary craftsmen utilised abrasive sands, rotary drills, and steel tools to hand-carve the naturally banded orange and red agate into high-relief forms.

Authentication relies on identifying hand-tooling marks under magnification, smooth internal polishing, period-appropriate motif execution, and un-dyed natural colour variation.

These compact stone pieces serve as accent objects on console tables, open shelving, or lit display cabinets where ambient light highlights the translucency of the material.

Clean gently using a soft-bristled brush with lukewarm water and mild soap, drying thoroughly with a lint-free cloth while avoiding ultrasonic cleaners and rapid thermal changes.
