Mary Gregory glassware is characterised by silhouette scenes painted in white enamel, typically depicting children amidst foliage, landscapes, or mythological settings, popularised during the late 19th century.

These items were typically crafted from coloured glass, such as Bristol green or cranberry, utilising hand-blown or mould-blown techniques, often mounted with brass hinges and hand-painted with white or polychrome enamel.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-mixed enamel with slight raised textures, wear consistent with age on the metal mountings, and pontil marks on the glass base, distinguishing them from modern reproductions.

Placed on a dressing table, mantelpiece, or open shelving, it introduces a pop of historical colour and texture, contrasting effectively against minimalist modern surfaces.

Clean gently with a dry or barely damp microfiber cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or submersion in water to protect the delicate enamel work and metallic hinges.
