Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian amethyst jewellery features rich purple quartz stones set in metals such as sterling silver, gold, or pinched gilt. Popular throughout the 19th century, these pieces often incorporated symbolic floral motifs, detailed engraving, and ornate borders characteristic of the era.

Victorian jewellery sets were commonly crafted from sterling silver or gold, frequently decorated with hand-engraved scrollwork, chasing, and repousse techniques. Gemstones were typically held in place with claw or bezel settings, while drop earrings used wire hooks.

Authentic Victorian pieces often display period-specific hallmarks, hand-engraved details rather than machine casting, and original findings such as C-clasps on brooches or shepherd hook wires on earrings. Natural gemstones may also show minor inclusions under magnification.

Victorian silver jewellery can be styled with contemporary tailoring, dark knitwear, or simple necklines to highlight the contrast between historical detail and modern silhouettes. Wearing a matching suite offers a cohesive accent to formal or evening wear.

Antique silver should be gently wiped with a soft, non-abrasive silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish without stripping natural patination. Avoid submerging gemstones like amethyst in harsh chemical cleaners, and store pieces separately in lined boxes to prevent surface scratching.
