It also has the remains of its original paper seal across the doors.
The hinged doors open to reveal a cedar lined interior with a shelf and a small drawer below with inset flush brass handle. It is a good quality piece standing on a plinth base with nicely rounded corners and dovetail joints. It comes with a working key.
It is a good useful size, suitable for tabletop or floorstanding use. It is in good condition for its age. The wood has developed a lovely patina and it displays well. It is not without some small knocks and marks and signs of use but nothing detrimental and the interior is clean and tidy. There have been some repairs to the hinges but they are strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
