This pair of late 19th century Victorian table lustres comes from England and belongs to the Victorian style. Made of yellow glass, crystal and gilt, the pieces show a striking swirled glass design paired with frilled rims and hand-painted gilt floral decoration. Each lustre incorporates hanging clear crystal prisms attached via metal loops. Faint traces of the original surface decoration remain visible across the bodies, indicating their age and previous use. Measuring 18 cm high, 15 cm wide and 15 cm deep, the pair works well as a decorative display on a mantelpiece in a traditional living room or dining room interior.

Victorian glass lustres are decorative mantelpiece ornaments, often produced in pairs during the nineteenth century, featuring a glass vessel adorned with suspended crystal prisms designed to refract ambient light.

These items were typically hand-blown using opaque, coloured, or swirled glass, finished with hand-painted gilt details and attached cut-crystal prisms via individual metal wire connectors.

Authentic examples frequently exhibit hand-finished details such as pontil marks on the base, minor irregularities in hand-cut glass prisms, and age-related surface wear to the gilt motifs.

Position a pair symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard to establish visual balance and capture natural light through the hanging prisms.

Dust gently using a dry microfibre cloth, avoid soaking gilded surfaces in water, and clean crystal drops individually with a damp cloth to protect original wire fittings.
