Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV silver refers to sterling silver objects produced in Great Britain between 1830 and 1837. This period bridged Late Georgian and Early Victorian styles, characterised by heavy proportions, naturalistic motifs, and elaborate hand-chased ornamentation.

Silver vessels were raised from sheet sterling silver, with decorative relief created through repousse work hammered from the inside and chased from the exterior. Cast handles and pedestals were soldered onto the body, often finished with interior gilding to protect against corrosion.

Authentic British pieces bear a full set of silver hallmarks stamped into the metal, including the Lion Passant for sterling purity, a makers mark, a town mark, a date letter, and the duty mark displaying the profile of King William IV.

A silver trophy cup functions as a decorative accent on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or dining table centre. It can be displayed as a standalone vessel or used as an elevated holder for floral arrangements.

Silver should be cleaned periodically using a soft cloth and a specialised, non-abrasive silver polish to remove tarnish. Avoid harsh chemical dips or automated washing, and store silver in a dry environment wrapped in acid-free tissue or anti-tarnish cloth.
