Fine quality George III mahogany bookcase on chest. Dentil moulded cornice over geometric astragal glazed doors, the interior fitted with three adjustable shelves. The base section with two short and three long cockbeaded drawers, fitted with brass ring handles. Raised on shaped bracket feet.

A George III cabinet on chest is a two-part furniture design produced in Great Britain between 1760 and 1820. It combines a upper display or storage cabinet, often with astragal glazed doors, set atop a lower chest of drawers resting on bracket feet.

Cabinet makers during this period used dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine drawer linings, and hand-cast brass hardware. Glazed doors featured individual glass panes secured by timber astragal mouldings and putty.
