Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III cabinet on chest is a two-part furniture design produced in Great Britain between 1760 and 1820. It combines a upper display or storage cabinet, often with astragal glazed doors, set atop a lower chest of drawers resting on bracket feet.

Cabinet makers during this period used dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine drawer linings, and hand-cast brass hardware. Glazed doors featured individual glass panes secured by timber astragal mouldings and putty.

Authentic pieces display signs of hand-planing on structural backs, irregular hand-cut dovetails, original cast brass fittings, and natural wood shrinkage along drawer bottoms. Oxidation and uneven darkening inside wood grain also indicate period origin.

Position the piece as a focal architectural feature in a study, dining room, or living space. Fill the upper shelves with bound books or modern ceramics, pairing the dark timber tones with neutral wall palettes or deep muted paint shades.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish once or twice per year along the wood grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight, radiators, and areas of high humidity fluctuations.
