John Howkins Antiques has dated this Victorian Inlaid Walnut Bookcase to the 1870s.
The stiles having gilded brass corbels and further beautiful floral marquetry inlay in exotic woods. The lower section having a cushion moulded frieze with conforming floral marquetry and gilded beading. Below a pair of panelled doors again with satinwood banding and floral marquetry within ebony panels and gilded door strip. The conforming stiles with further marquetry and gilded corbels. The whole raised on a plinth base with satinwood banding top and complete with working locks, keys and gilded escutcheons. There are 3 adjustable boxwood inlaid shelves to the to the top and 1 large shelf to the base. Condition- Very good and ready for use in the home or office and offered here at a great price.
