Historical Context
Composite stems in 18th century glass are stems made using a combination of different techniques or sections, such as air twist, plain glass, and applied knops. Most commonly found around 1740–1760, they reflect a period of experimentation and growing skill in glassmaking, offering both structural strength and decorative variety compared to single-technique stems.
