This Art Deco vanity jar combines a round clear glass base with a sterling silver rim and a blue guilloche enamel lid. The piece dates to the 1930 period, featuring a cornflower blue engine-turned target pattern on the lid and a deep cut grid pattern across three bands of the glass body, complemented by a plain base. Visible details include Birmingham hallmarks for 1936, a maker's mark for Barker Bros Limited, and a gilt-sprayed finish on the lid. The item measures 6 cm high, 4.5 cm wide, and 4.5 cm deep. Practical placement includes a bathroom counter or dressing table, serving as a decorative container for small everyday accessories, cotton pads, or jewellery. The compact circular proportions allow it to sit neatly on vanity surfaces alongside other storage items while providing accessible everyday organization.

Art Deco vanity jars typically feature geometric glass cutting combined with sterling silver lids decorated in engine-turned guilloche enamel, popular during the 1920s and 1930s.

These items generally combine lead crystal or cut glass bases with sterling silver mounts and translucent enamel applied over machine-engraved metal patterns.

Authentic pieces carry official British assay office hallmarks, such as the Birmingham anchor mark, along with specific date letters and makers stamps on the silver rim or lid.

Position the jar on a bathroom tray, dressing table, or vanity counter to store small items, jewellery, or cotton pads while adding visual texture.

Clean the glass base with warm water and mild detergent, avoiding immersion of the silver rim, and polish the metal gently with a dry microfibre cloth to protect the delicate enamel.
