Pair Rare Saint-louis Cut Crystal Green Glass Wines C1900

19th century
Description

Description

A stunning pair cut crystal wine goblets produced by Cristallerie royale de Saint-Louis glassworks in France around c1900. The large green cut-to-clear bowls feature alternating fields of fine diamonds with flowers bordered by prism and split cuts. They have facet ball shoulder knops leaving to baluster knops which have been flute cut. They sit on scallop cut feet featuring a peacock feather cut underside.

Collector’s Note - This foot’s underside is known to be one of St Louis’s patterns, though it’s more often found on their tall hock-style glasses, this examples bowl pattern is a rare find and far more fully faceted than might typically be found from St Louis. This is representative of the high-quality cut crystal available in Europe throughout the 19th century and the inspiration for the late 19th-century American Brilliant period cut glass.
